The Medical Assistant Programs

both the clinical and administrative procedures necessary to securing
entry-level employment.
Students who enroll in the Professional Medical Assistant training program will gain a strong foundation in the following areas:

A graduate will have clinical skills (EKG, phlebotomy, blood pressure testing,
injections, lab work), specialized administrative skills (typing, bookkeeping,
insurance billing, front office operation), and prepare you for five physician
specialties: Certified Medical Assistant, Medical Transcription, Phlebotomy,
EKG, and Health Unit Coordinator. The graduate will be qualified to work in
medical venues ranging from hospitals and labs to private practice offices. |

The Medical Assistant program provides graduates with the skills necessary to
obtain entry-level employment in a clinical and/or administrative medical
setting. The program prepares graduates for entry-level positions under the
direct supervision of a physician or medical office manager through coursework
in medical office administration, clinical procedures, and pharmacology, as well
as in business principles and computer operations. |

This Medical Assistant Diploma program provides a professional education program that prepares the medical
assistant student to serve as an allied health care professional serving the
needs of physician-employers in delivering quality health care services to a
client population. As part of this process, medical assistant students will

clinical, and laboratory procedures. |

Graduates of this program will be prepared with professional competencies to
work in various medical settings such as clinics, hospitals, hospice, home care,
or a physician's office. Students will choose either the Clinical (Back Office)
or the Administrative (Front Office) specialization. The graduate will enter the
job market with skills in medical terminology, clinical procedures, medical
technology, CPR and First Aid, medical office skills, customer service,
insurance and billing, and ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding. |

AmeriTech College offers a 34 week program at our Provo campus. This course will
provide students with comprehensive training in performing entry-level skills in
medical offices and clinics. The curriculum includes training in a wide variety
of competency-based skills for both clinical and administrative areas necessary
for assisting the physician in his/her practice.
The Medical Assistant
program is 36.5 semester credit hours in length. It consists of 30 weeks of
classroom training followed by an externship of 4 weeks (160 hours) for a total

Anthem Institute's Medical Assistant program provides students with the training
necessary to update patient medical records, fill out insurance forms, schedule
appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handle
billing and bookkeeping.
Students also learn how to take medical
histories and record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients,
prepare patients for exams, and assist physicians. The program concludes with an
externship in a medical facility, where the student will practice the skills
they learned in the classroom. Topics covered include:
