This nationally accredited distance learning diploma program teaches the basic knowledge that medical transcription specialists should have when they begin their careers. First, you'll learn about the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, digestive, urinary, endocrine, reproductive, lymphatic, immune, muscular, and skeletal systems and structures of the human body. Then, you'll learn the names and terms associated with common diseases, diagnostic tests, and treatments; prescriptions and medications; laboratory procedures; imaging techniques; equipment; and more. We'll also help you improve your keyboarding and grammar skills.
Next, you'll actually transcribe a variety of medical cases with our "ears-on" training. For this purpose, a quality portable Sony audio recorder with headset, along with audiotaped notes of actual patient cases, are included with your tuition. By graduation, you will have transcribed 38 finished medical reports, giving you a valuable taste of the "real world" of medical transcription.
You'll learn the medical transcription techniques that are applicable in doctors' and dentists' offices, clinics, hospitals, and transcription services.
