Anthem Institute's Medical Assistant program provides students with the training
necessary to update patient medical records, fill out insurance forms, schedule
appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handle
billing and bookkeeping.
Students also learn how to take medical
histories and record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients,
prepare patients for exams, and assist physicians. The program concludes with an
externship in a medical facility, where the student will practice the skills
they learned in the classroom. Topics covered include:
Theory and practical application in the fundamentals of medical diagnostic
techniques
Anatomy and physiology
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
Standard clinical and laboratory procedures
Venipuncture, injections, electrocardiography (EKG), vital signs, and
preparation for physical and specialty exams
